Looking at a 3 series coupe shortly and there are some nice M Sport 320d's around but there are lots of horror stories about clutch judder with some people on their 3rd of 4th clutch under warranty to try and fix the problem.

Whats the deal with it then? does it only affect the 4 cylinder models or do the 325 and 330 suffer from it as well?

As its going to be an every day car with a fair amount of time in stop start traffic I could get an auto but would quite like a manual for when I want a decent thrash.

Thanks

We have three E90 320ds at work (all post 2009) and all three have been a total clutch judder disaster. The guys are never away from the dealer.

I've heard no such issues with 325 or 330d manuals. But if I were you I'd go nowhere near a 320d E90 manual.

I have an e90 320d that has done 60k. I haven't changed the clutch or had significant clutch judder. To be honest nothing has broken on it, its been completely reliable and very cheap to run.
