I've just bought myself a 840 ci manual in white. Fell in love with it yesterday when I saw it parked over the road from work. It's absolutely mint inside and out, been stored for about a decade. Just having a hose replaced and can't wait to get on the road with it.

any tips on aggressive driving and dubious parking? Or is everyone in the Audi forum for that now wink

Well done. Seriously.

The current trend for white cars notwithstanding, a manual 840Ci in white is one hell of a catch. Get some pics up.

Well, it's actually been in use the whole time technically, it's been serviced and mot'd every year but has done about 100 miles between each one before hiding in a garage the rest of the year. Only issue I know of right now is slight cracking on the surface of the tyre wall. I also know the size of tyre is very hard to source. I forget the exact size, but I will be one here asking for leads! might need to put some other suitable alloys on.

Total mileage is actually 70k, but that was nearly all with the first owner in it's first couple of years.

A classic. Looks great from almost every angle, especially from the back. Looking forward to more pics.

If it was mine i would certainly be changing the rubber all round asap, especially if it had not been changed in the last ten years, plus i wouldn't be driving it aggressively until i had racked up a couple of thousand miles and that would include a couple of longish runs too to make sure everything was properly warmed up. There are a lot of seals and bearings that would not have been up to normal temperature for a long time for each of those 100miles/year, the last thing you want to do is start putting too much work into them too soon...... Take your time gently and enjoy your car.

Mytyres do a fair selection of metric tyres, and Camskill have Dunlops in one of the sizes. They're easily obtained.

They're not metrics - just odd sizes. Probably 235/50R16's all round.

You're better off getting a nice set of 17's, anyway. The car will handle better and look far better. Keep the 16's for originality, though.

spot on with the sizes. Going to have a search around, but think they might just be kept for best!
