You know the one on the steering wheel!
Mrs Saleen's car has this along with what I assume to be a speaker? in the middle of the roof, do these come standard for bluetooth and need extras to connect the phone or is there a way to connect? there is nothing in the handbook so am a little stumped.

What model is the car.

Thats for voice control.
You should be able to pair the phone manually if BT is enabled.

if its an E46 are you sure the thing on the roof (rectangular?) isn't part of the alarm (ultrasonics)?

It's an '01 E46 330, have no idea really what the thing is on the roof but certainly looks more like a speaker than part of an alarm?!

Is it about 5x4" - that's the ultrasonic alarm sensor.

I think I have one of those on my E39, I always assumed it's an internal alarm sensor..

I'm guessing it might be a mic from a previously fitted hands free car kit which has now been removed. My E46 still has one on the roof near the rear view mirror.

I don't think there will be a mic fitted as standard. If you mean in the extreme upper corners of the windscreen, these are alarm sensors.

A BMW bluetooth kit costs a fortune but you can fit a very need invisible installation that uses all the BMW controls using a parrot kit and a connects2 adaptor. I sorted mine for less than £100 and works like an OEM system.
