I know there are few 650 owners on here now. Before I start calling around for prices, has anyone got recent experience of prices for a routine oil service? What should I expect? Has to be main dealer for warranty.

To update...

Cooper in Reading, £189.89 all in. Or, £80 if I supply my own oil.

Sytner... started off at £230 for the same service! But then agreed to match the £189 and £80 respectively. But, they tried to insist on me only supplying Castrol Edge rather than anything that is LL-04 compliant. Then they wanted £15 for a loan car!

Cooper Reading will be getting the work.

Did Cooper reading not charge you for the Courtesy car? Apparently they all do now to cover insurance costs £15-20 a day.

I'd double check with them just in case wink

Just spoke to them, it's £10 from them! I've not had to pay it before as it's normally been for warranty work.

Also, concerning advice from Sytner as they advised I would need to supply the wrong oil. The service person was adamant that the car required 0w-30 where BMW actually require 5w-30.

She refused to accept I was correct. "This is what you have to supply as that is what they have showed me in the workshop".... Ok love.

She was infact partly correct, Castrol supply SLX (which has just been rebrand to Edge Professional)to dealers which IS 0w30 AND LL04

Normal Edge as you state is not LL04 in 0w30 form, hence you saying 5w30 which is, dont ask me why they supply different oils to dealers though!

So they can charge £110 just for oil, going by the prices that have been quoted to 5678. How much oil does a 650 take?

I've not managed to get an exact amount. Suggestions have been from 7.8 litres to 8.8 litres. I'll be supplying 3 x 4litre bottles of Edge 5w30 and I expect at least 2 litres back.

TBH, £110 isn't that bad IMO. Even from Opie it would have been £70+

I may be getting lazy in my old age but isn't this 'own oil' business a lot of effort to save a couple of quid - as well as potential warranty arguments.

I won't go into specifics, but I get my oil very cheap. Supplying my own oil saves me over £100. The day that becomes "a couple of quid" I need a slap back to reality!
