There are examples out there starting at 10k! And not a bad spec for that either! I might consider one of these! Maybe even a convertible, would be the perfect car for a European road trip!

Any experiences on here good or bad?

Only nag is the running costs.

4 tyres will be north of 1k for one with wheels that suit it.

Didn't realise they had fallen that low. Thats a bit of a bargain smile Not surprising I suppose given the price of fuel and a lot of people buying cars around this price point are likely to be going for more sensible options.

They were at £12k in late 2008 early 2009, so have levelled out if anything.

Is there anything stupidly expensive on these cars like with the old 8 series or are they as sensible as say a 5 series? I can't think of any reason why they should be any more expensive to run than most other modern bmw's?

Re tyres not sure on the size but I'd be happy with avons or falkens etc sure I could get them for 150 / corner.

I might get one if I start on a project closer to home I.e less petrol required. The ironic thing is though, wherever I work I always tend to use about a tank of petrol a week, the increased efficiency on longer trips offsetting the larger milage.

£10k will get you a leggy rough car with some of the desirable options missing!

They are great GT cars but running costs will be high as the miles roll on.

Stupidly expensive? Try £900 for a headlight!

Tyres, my 650 is on 19" wheels and uses 245/40/19 & 275/35/19 tyres. A set of RFTs is £1300, you can get a set of Falkens for £600 though.

MPG wise, you will get 15-18 if you press on, I've had up to 33-34mpg on mway runs @ 70-75mph. But it averages at 22-23. Real world this means 250-380 miles from an £85 tank.

Just out of interest what's stupidly expensive on an 8? Mine has been very reasonable to run (so far!)

I have read some scare stories - try electrics, exhaust, maf / map sensors etc.
