Started getting an intermittent problem with the passenger door not responding to the central lockking a couple of weeks ago and had to use the insde door handle to open it. This morning door does not unlock whatever I do. Inside handle raises the button but doesn't unlock the door not even twice as stated in the owners manual. Does anyone know of a manual overide to open the door before I can get it to an auto electrician.

Sounds like the actuator. I fixed mine DIY and there's a guide on zroadster.net if you search. Could also be a simple lube required, to try this first. Bit of silicone spray inside the door card on the meachnism.

Thanks for that. I'm guessing you're right with it being the actuator. My understanding was that there was a fundamental rule of safety which says no matter how locked the car is you should always be able to open the door on the inside handle. It's certainly the case on my Volvo but not the case at the moment in the Z3. It would be a lot easier taking the door card off and working on it with the door open if I could just open it manually.

If it's the same as the Z3M then I'll go with the actuator too but I don't know of a way to open the door other than pulling the handles. Maybe call the AA, if you're a member and tell them you've locked your keys in the car wink
