Whats it worth??Tax free 1972 BMW 1602
Discussion
BMW 1602, 1972 (tax free) non runner.
low mileage. early car with round rear lights
its been off the road since 1980 and is a non runner,
been dry stored for approx 28 years and then undercover outside.
its a 1972 manual with what looks like a very good body.
any idea of what its worth.

thanks

cripes, that's a tough one. without piccies it's hard to say.
if it's not run at all in over 30 years you may as well scrap the engine (head gaskets can shrink if they don't go through heat cycles...i know someone who didn't run an M10 for 11 years and the head gasket was f
ked), radiator, maybe the diff and gearbox, tyres, braking system etc will all need doing. clutch plates would have stuck etc.
i wouldn't contemplate this if you're not going to work on it yourself.
my advice would be to phone fritz's bits on 01823 674459 and ask them, they'd have a pretty good idea on what would need doing and whether it'll be worthwhile getting it....they work on '02s regularly. tell them Ross with the green E21 (now sold!!) sent you and i'm sure they'll be extra kind
if you don't plan on doing any work yourself, i'd get it to them; they were fantastic for help with the E21.
Ross.
