Hi,
sorry if this has been covered before.
Got the message on the screen saying tyre puncture.
Cant tell which tyre has a problem..

checked the pressures and on one of the rear tyres the valve is so far in that i cant get the gauge on to check the pressure.

Is this common, does that mean that it needs replacing, or is it just the valve.
is it a safety feature...

Thanks in advance for your help

My e60 used to do this all the time when there was no puncture. It really bugs me that the system in the BMW can't tell you which wheel it is, but spend a third of the price on a Citroen and it can!

I don't recall the valves being special. maybe you have a failed valve, that's where I would start. Unscrew it and screw in a new one, much cheaper than a tyre.

Thanks for the reply!

Is replacing the valve straight forward? Where can I get a replacement from?

Thanks

Hm, I always have one knocking about from an old tyre, but i guess any tyre place, or Halfords maybe. You will need a valve removal tool, mine came free with an old fashioned tyre pressure gauge.

Probably not quick enough for you but this sort of thing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-WAY-METAL-TYRE-VALVE-REPAIR-TOOL-4-VALVE-CORES-/220642838724?pt=UK_Cars_parts_Vehicles_Wheels_tyres_trims_Valve_Caps_ET&hash=item335f5688c4#ht_1512wt_905

If you cant get a pressure guage on then the entire valve must be in too far, in which case you will have to get the tire removed and a new valve fitted.
