Annoying rattles in e39 touring - any tips?

Hi.
I have a '98 520 SE E39 touring with 2 specific and very irritating rattles:
Firstly, the rear luggage compartment cover (the one that clips in and out) is rattling like hell. I take it out and shake it - nothing. Has anyone experienced issues with the mounting mechanism? Nothing seems obvious - everything seems firm and tight.
Secondly, the driver's door has a rattle that sounds like a loose widget behind the panel. The panel has no obvious fixing screws - is it easy to get off without damaging any trim? It's definitely in the door as it disappears if I open the door slightly while on the move...
