Can anyone point me in the direction of the best place to get a retaining clip for the front calipers? ECP don't have it listed, and google not being much use. Is it a case of heading to the main stealers?

Oh, and tips and tricks for removing locking wheel nuts gratefully received - the garage that fitted my suspension managed to lose the key.

Thanks.

Main dealer will def be able to get you one, bmminiparts.co.uk if you want to mail order, breakers such as FAB, Motormec.

Dealer should be able to remove the lockers also if they are OE BMW lockers, if not a large hammer and a deep impact socket that is slightly smaller the locker usually does the job.

I would be getting the garage to sort the wheel bolt key out and paying for any damage caused in removing the old one. Plus they would be paying for a new set of lock nuts.

Thanks.

Other garage is 200 miles away. They insist that the locking wheel nut was left in the glovebox (one was, but I have two different types on the wheels). Not a lot I can do there so got to suck it up.

A fiver from the main dealer - and they had one in stock. I was perhaps too quick to criticise.

Happy days!

It's a common misconception that everything is more expensive at the main dealers, especially for small items.

A lot of trim pieces and clips that you find on e-bay priced @ £1 each can be had from the dealers for pence!, so it's always worth checking with them first. smile

Absolutely. I replaced almost every nut and bolt with genuine items from Sytner whilst I was replacing my suspension bushes, and the whole lot came to less than a tenner.

Meant I didn't have to be too careful preserving the heavily rusted heads of the old bolts, too!
