Temp reading low on a Z3 1.9

My temp gauge only gets to just above the blue part on the guage. I assume this is not normal. Is there a way of checking whats wrong, whether its a thermostat prob or something else. Also the heater doesnt blow that hot, its more warm than hot. I assume this is due to the same fault.

It will most likely be that your thermostat is stuck open, and the radiator is always cooling the engine at maximum.
A new stat will have you running with hot heaters and better MPGs.
