In short, i might be going to look at a 5 series this weekend. It's this:

Listed as 'space grey metallic'. Now to me, that looks kinda blue, but im unsure if its just the photographs.

As a comparison, the colour i want, is this:

Are they going to be the same, and maybe the colour ofn the sky/light in picutre #1 is making it look lighter than it is?

By comparison, i used to have a vectra in this colour, which #1 looks too similar to.

Is this just me, or did they do more than one grey for the 5 series?

E6x greys:

Amethyst Grey
Silver Grey
Space Grey
Titanium Grey

Space Grey superseded Silver Grey as the M Sport grey in around 2007.

The second car you have posted is Space Grey. It's a really nice colour which is more popular on 3 series coupes than 5 series.

Plenty of people, once the model has been decided upon.

I believe there was Titanium Grey I (pre-LCI) and Titanium Grey II (LCI), with the I having a dark green hue to it.

Lift your bonnet, there's usually a plaque on the offside suspension turret or inner wing that lists the colour code and name (in German).
