Hi

I'm looking to buy a 130i m sport and wondered if there is anything I should look out for or any options that are a must have etc.

I have a budget of 8 - 10 k

I would also like some mpg figures. I have a young family and the missus will be driving it daily around the town and to work a couple of days (gently) and I want to do the odd track day.

Any advice or information would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Dan

Around town only, you'll be looking at 22 mpg.

Motorway / A-Roads, 30 mpg+

I really wanted one of these when I sold my M5 but the lack of room in the back (I have a 7yr old and a 9yr old) and the stories of a poor ride due to run flats (OK, I know you can change them) put me off.

I spent a fortune on the M5 so I wanted to buy a car from a dealer so they were a little out of my budget but I think they have come down a little since then. Do a search on 130i, there are quite a few threads running on them. Overall the it seems that owners love them to bits.

I think Xenons and leather are a couple of the must have options.

I averaged 27.9 when I had mine, mixture of driving, you could see mid 30s on the motorway. Brilliant car, yep it could be a bit jiggly but the engine is one of the best out there in my opinion.

The facelift 130i cars are a bit better on fuel. I get 28-30 mpg round town and 40 on a run.

My car is for sale too, and has a BMW warranty. 44000 miles, leather, xenons, bluetooth. You will find it in the Pistonheads classifieds, it is silver and priced at 10995!

I average 29.7 mpg according to the trip computer (2005 (55) I've had it almost since new (was a dealer demo) and it's been utterly brilliant.

- I'm thinking of selling it so let me know if you're interested. Spec is as follows:
2005 (55) 130i M-Sport 78000 miles
Le Mans Blue Metallic
Professional Hi-Fi
Xenons
Bluetooth
Full BMW/Birds Uxbridge Service History

Thanks for the reply s

I think the 2 grand I'll save on a ED model will just go in the tank in the long run. Got to take a hit somewhere if you want a quick motor eh?

cheers

No problems with luggage space, we have 2 kids and both kid seats fit in fine (snug but fine).

MPG wise I found it better around the country roads than a loaned 530d which averaged 25.2mpg compared to the 130i 27.3. Its a great little engine, it reminds me a lot of my E36 M3 in many ways.

It really is a cracking little motor and you will love it if you take the plunge.

Oh mines up for sale too

54k, iDrive, New MOT, etc... £9250 ono

Good luck

Thanks for the reply I was a little worried about the space for the baby equipment. But it sounds like u cope ok. It's amazing how much junk you have to carry around with those babys ! Lol !

Where is yours advertised ? I'll take a look.

Make sure it has hi fi speakers too, as the standard ones aren't great. Or you could retro fit tweeters. Cruise is also handy.

It will be tight for a baby though - there's not that much room in the back and the boot isn't massive either. I have a 123d and was forced smile to buy a Volvo 850 T5 for those purposes.

It will be a bit tight but you'll be ok with the first child if you rationalise what you NEED to take rather than what you think you should take, when going on trips. We bought a really basic buggy that fit in the boot easily as baby TJ grew a little. A travel system base + pushchair won't fit but the base of it that you use when they are small and you lock the car seat to it will.

It is when a second child comes along that you will begin to struggle, and the reason why my 130i (with the HiFi speakers too) is being sold.

Second child coincided with company car choice time too. Depressingly the E91 isn't really that big in the back either.
