I've had a poke around and cant' see if anyone else has had the same issue. During the freeze last Xmas the headlight popup washers stopped working. I'd like to try and diagnose/fix myself as out of warranty now.

It hasn't been a problem to date, but I'm due my MOT next month and this is now a requirement to be working (it is here in NI anyway).

Any thoughts? Motor gone? Clogged? Loose connection? Fuse?

Usually a result of using poor quality or low strength screen wash IIRC ,sorry no clue as to fix but try posting on xdrivers.co.uk as they know everything...

Cheers

Yes, they had popped up about 1cm or so when it had frozen.

I had read about filters etc getting blocked by using cheaper screenwash too.

There is a sort of piston mechanism behind the cover which probably has come disconnected with the freeze.
Have a look at this link as it shows you how to fix it, the piston just needs to be reconnected.

Had the same problem a couple of winters ago and I think this is your problem.
if that is not the case I would suggest to watch out when you deploy the screen wash button and watch where there is a puddle of water on the ground.
Good luck.

THanks, will check it out. I was also planning on seeing if there was any water dripping anywhere, but given the volume of rain fallen here it's hard to see where thats coming from!

From what it looks like, that appears to be an E53. I wonder if the mechanism is the same or different?

Yes it is different as so was mine (e92) however they are very similar and the principal is the same.
