530i resale value

I bought for my wife two days ago a Lexus RX 450H from a Lexus dealer and they offered me £5.4 K for my wife's BMW 530i. The BMW is a 2004 model with only 47K miles, has full BMW service history and only needs an oil change as part of the coming service. The front bumper needs to be resprayed as it has a few scratches. Is the price they offered me roughly correct ?
in terms of reliability, BMW are great cars. i never had any problem with mine apart from a battery that i had to change once. The two issues are the Run Flat Tyres which I do not like and the BMW dealers.

Spec will also affect resale. A 530i SE with cloth trim and no toys will be worth considerably less than a nicely spec'd 530i M Sport.

Unfortunately, despite the 530i being a fantastic car, it's less desirable than the 530d.
It is a E60 (ie the newer model), it has full leather, satnav (business not professional), adaptive lights and all the key options. It does not have the heated seats though.
It is a great car and the only reason I did not buy another BMW is the run flat tyres (I had to change 4 tyres last year because of small punctures in them) and the level of service provided by BMW dealers. Hopefully the level of service provided by Lexus will be better.

I will miss my BMW, my Lexus RX 450h is coming tomorrow so I will think overnight whether to keep it or to part exchange it (the Lexus dealer has confirmed that either way is fine). If I keep it it will be hardly used so in the medium to long term that would not be good.
These BMWs are extremely reliable, my wife only drives 5/7K miles a year and during our 8 years ownership the only problems have been a flat battery (it was replaced 2 years ago) and a few run flat tyres we had to change as these tyres cannot be repaired.

Actually, they can be repaired. You just need to find someone that is prepared to do it. Sounds like a nice car. I'd be keeping it and then selling privately for a fair bit more than they've offered you in p/x.
RFT's can be repaired and more importantly, you can fit normal tyres on the E60 and either buy the spare wheel kit, or get a can of foam gunk. I remember changing the 18" RFT's on my 535d for the 19" M172 wheel and non-RFT Conti Sport tyres and the handling was massively transformed. So much better without RFT's.

Thanks all - I gave some thought and I have now decided that I will part exchange it. The car is great but it would not be used so that would be a big waste. In addition I cannot face dealing with the private sale process and have all those timewasters coming to my house to see my car.
