Bit of advice please....

2008 120D SE (177/6M) with 33000 miles and when pulling away first thing in the morning it seems to suffer temporary clutch judder. By the time its warmed up, the judder has gone.

Started about 2 weeks ago - prior to that, perfect.

Can anyone suggest a cause?

Many thanks

BMW have a massive issue, all manual cars built between 2006 and late 2011 suffer from this.
They want to keep it quiet for obvious reasons.

Go and complain and you will get a new clucth and flywheel fitted that improves things massively.

It is also a much nicer clutch as well.

We've noticed the same on our '57 120D. Has a couple of months AUC warranty left so I think we'll chuck it in. I'd assumed it was the CDV or DMF until I heard about this problem cltuch mechanism and replacement kit that's available.

Well worth taking the grommet out of the CDV as well.
I am rubbish at anything mechanical, but did it myself in 30 minutes.

I used a mole grip just before the CDV, clamped it, removed it and then pushed the plastic grommet out.
This allows the fluid to flow freely and makes a hell of a difference, combined with the new clutch it made a manual almost enjoyable again.

Mine does this, for the first 5 mins or so. E90 330d. BMW had a look but want circa 450 to drop the clutch to inspect to establish whether this is a fault or worn clutch (wear and tear). Still under warrany but not too keen on having to fork out just for them to say it's not covered. Clutch feels absolutely fine apart from that. Anyone else had this issue and if so did you manage to ge around it? Car has done circa 60k

I'm on my fourth clutch. The most recent modified version has finally stopped the judder. I believe it was Feb this year when the new version was released. It will judder ever so slightly first thing still which I guess is just a bit of moisture on the plates.

Noob here, so please be gentle..

I have a E89 Z4 23i, June 2011 build, I noticed this a couple of times, but put it down to me....obviously not!

I presume the E89 is in the list of cars that may have issues...

My '98 E36 started doing this about 3 months ago. I have just had the clutch replaced but it is old and has done nearly 90k miles.

Just got our 2011 e82 120d with 3000 miles on the clock back after having a new clutch fitted because of this. Our previous 2008 E87 120d never had this issue in three years of ownership.

Whereabouts are you out of interest. Just thinking about booking ours in but don't want to be forking out that sort of money just for them to have a look.

Thanks everyone for their replies.

Took car to local BMW dealership and got zippo off them apart from a kind offer to strip the clutch down at my expense.

I think the car must be logging on to my account and reading the messages as all is well again !
