Replacement Vin plate label

I am hoping that someone can help

My sister has a 2007 BMW 1 series and the Vin plate label on the B post of the car is torn & damaged.

What does she need to do to get a replacement Vin plate label from BMW and the process for verifying its replacement. Can you do this?

One person I spoke to, said that you can just make your own which doesn't sound right.

Any hep or advice greatly appreciated.

My guess is that they can be order from BMW parts dept. with proof of vehicle ownership (V5 and Invoice for the car).

AFAIK, it has to be done via the dealer.
