I am using an M52/2.8 engine (single vanos) taken from an e36 328i and want to release some more power. I already have an M50 inlet and six branch exhaust manifold but also plan to fit camshafts. I know the US M3 cams work but I have opted for new cams from Cat Camshafts instead.

I am just unsure which is the best option to go for? The first spec below is the stock cam, with the 3 alternatives from Cat listed after.

I would like to achieve an output of 240 - 250bhp if possible.

Any help and/or advice would be much appreciated.

Holy thread revival batman!

Did you end up picking up a set of these cams?

I did. E21 has been and gone since then though.

I see the relevant name change!

What cam set did you get and how did they behave?

Was the idle still good afterwards?

I just opted for fast road, lightened flywheel and 6 branch manifold. Idle was perfect and engine was nice and responsive. Well worth the effort.
