I think membership is a good thing and can recommend it. There is an excellent monthly magazine and member discounts at most main dealers on parts and accessories. Members also enjoy discount on other things like insurance from some companies and a preferential rate at a certain hotel chain.
I was a member but have lapsed due to the fact that I get trade discount on parts and didn't really read the magazine.
One thing I can completely recommend is the comradery with fellow members. I enjoyed / enjoy the monthly meets which are often "drive and dine" affairs.
Hope this helps..

I'm also a member and have been for years, I enjoy the magazine and local meetings as well as track-days and the National Festival. I think it represents good value for money (just the magazine would do that).
I have no intention of stopping my membership, my question back to you (and others) is; why would you stop being a member unless there stopped being a benefit, where the benefit might just be a "good read"?
Also, there are things like discounted track days that would pay for the membership fee in one go (by way of a discount) and you'd still get the magazine every month!

Hi Darren,
I'm interested in peoples views as there are so many BMW enthusiasts who are not members or who have been members and left. The recent AGM was only attended by staunch members and was full of enthusiasm for the club but at a recent pub meet that I attended that was not the view that was coming across. The broader picture is what I would value.
Cheers
Phil

I am a member since 2007. I am currently 31. I think the monthly mag is a great read. Though occasionally the mag issues are not as good. This is rare though. There are loads of meets and events all over the country and members are encouraged to take part and get involved as much or as little as possible. The highlight of the year is National BMW Festival. You get 10% off New Genuine BMW Parts at most dealers. There are also deals with Michelin, Crown Plaza Hotels and various insurance companies that offer better rates.
I never been to a local meet though I keep meaning too! I have been to the National Festival a few times, indoor BMW Festival they used to hold, BMW Park Lane visit (superb), Welsh Weekend last year (superb) and again this year.
Yes the club has been going through some changes. Hopefully for the better!

Up here in Bonny Scotland, we regularly drive our fantastic scenic roads (enthusiastically)and stop for a bite to eat.
Our secret is that we're all now mates and we welcome everyone to our meets. We meet monthly and do stuff, different things every month, we attend and display at car shows throughout the summer aswell.
Although there is an official structure, committee and all that crap, we tend to do our own thing and above all, we make it fun.

Phil.
I think I remember you from those days when I was a member, I was one of the original web team.
I left in disgust at how Howard, killian, and the rest of us were treated by fatty and his comrades.
Obviously I wouldn't piss on the club if it was on fire.
If you are the chap I remember, you organised some nice runs that used to end at a pub in Crowle.
It was fun at one time, I remember a run to France organised by the east anglian mob, before fatty pissed them off, Gaydon used to be good (although I've read horrid reports in the last few years), and the Scottish lads were a real hoot.
Good mates were made, whom I'm still in touch with after all these years.
