Humming - whirring noise when I increase the climate control temperature on my e70 x5

it seems to be louder when i put the climate control temperature above 23 degrees
the noise is coming behind the climate control area, so some valve or something?

Does it only do it when the air con compressor is running?

This might sound like a daft question but what do you call the climate control area?

The system starts at the radiator and finishes at the controls.

Noticed it more recently due to cold weather

No it happens without air con on

Climate control area, well I mean behind it or from the engine and maybe more passenger side.

Starts to Pulsates a bit at 23 degrees and more constant noise when temperature is higher

Look at your air control panel, does it have a small vented section.

Usually it is the little fan in there than sniffs the air, either getting choked or clogged, easy fix.

Failing that may well be the fan itself but I doubt it as not a common.

Actually thinking about it, it could be you main fan as you have said it increases when you turn the heating/blower up.

Do you here a noise when you first get in the car without starting/turning the key ???

Is there one particular fan speed where the problem is worse ? When cold at this time of year, the fan on my E92 now makes 'spurious' noises at fan speeds 2 and 3 which it doesn't make at fan speeds 1, 4 and 5. Its only noticeable when then there's low background noise ( when the car's idling ) and it clears up once the car ( fan ) is warm.

Long shot, but did you ever resolve this noise as I have the exact same issue? Thanks
