What BMW for a pilgrimage to Munich?
Discussion
Hello all,
My mrs has had a half decent idea for my birthday! It started with an EasyJet city break to Berlin for 2 nights, but I've managed to get it switched to a drive to Munich, home of the BMW Museum.
Anyway, what car do I take? I currently have an E34 which I'll gladly go in, but is there something a bit more special I could take across? The only thing is, that it would need to be relatively easy to sell once I got back.
My thoughts so far are:
650i: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SALE-BMW-650I-SPORT-CONV...
850i: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1991-BMW-850i-5-0-v12-11...
(suspiciously cheap)
E38: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-740I-M-PARALLELS-LOW...
Seems a bit cheap too...
Anyway, what would you pick and why?
Dan

Out of all three, and even though I loathe the styling, I'd go for the convertible for just that reason. I just think that you'd get more of a sense of occasion out of it. 8 would be epic but a nightmare to shift I suspect and the 7, well, it's a big barge. Nice enough but not really firing my rockets to be honest.
I'd suggest fly into berlin and home from Munch.
Rent a car from Sixt for a weekend (Friday - Monday) their rates are very cheap and they have BMWs. You can rent a 2 series convertible for the weekend for £100.
That way you get to see two cities and have a nice drive.
Berlin is well worth visiting, so don't skip it!

Sixt also rent M cars M4 for around £120 a day, but you cant do one way rentals on the M cars.Rent a car from Sixt for a weekend (Friday - Monday) their rates are very cheap and they have BMWs. You can rent a 2 series convertible for the weekend for £100.

50 euros an hour is a bit steep when Sixt is about £120 a dayThanks for the suggestions!
Definitely want to drive over though, the idea of buying a car for the trip has faded, I was just bored on a night shift
The E34 could get me there now no problem I reckon. Might just tidy up the insides
Might have to rent an M3/4 too, 55 euro is crazy though! It is my birthday though
Cheers guys.

Well that's the ferry booked, spending a night at the 'ring as well on our way across. Now looking at things to do when we're there for two days. BMW stuff is obvious, but will there be anything for the mrs?

Main shopping street is Kaufinger Str, west of Marien Platzto Hauptbahnhof.
Posh shops on Theatherin Str, north of Marien Platz
Depends what she wants really - three lakes area just north of the town
is quite nice.

Seems a bit pointless to buy a 10 grand car just to drive to Munich for a city-break and then sell once you get back.
Why not fly to somewhere just inside the German border - Cologne perhaps - and rent something really good with Sixt for the drive down the Autobahn? They've got all sorts, inc M cars.
Has to be better than faffing around buying a car especially!
