1992/J E30 325i SE saloon Bilstein / Eibach suspension setup
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm looking at treating my 1992/J E30 325i SE saloon to the Bilstein B12 Pro-Kit setup (Bilstein B8 shock absorbers / Eibach Pro-Kit springs) as the original suspension is tired. I've got the same setup on my E92 daily driver and like it, I'm not into lowering and only went with Eibach to get stiffer spring rates to tighten up handling.
Does anybody have any opinions on this setup? I've got 16" AC Schntizer wheels on my E30 and by all calculations the ride height drop seems to be reasonable.
I bought the kit for my E92 as individual parts (2x front shocks, 2 x rear shocks, springs) as it worked out cheaper. There's a little confusion about part numbers, for the kit 46-000101 and 46-000163 are offered with the only difference being 825 kg vs 865 kg front axle load. I'm guessing being the heavier M20 straight six I need the higher load 865 kg kit? The same distinction applies between the Eibach Pro-Kit springs, E2019-140 for 865 kg and E2003-140 for 825 kg.
The component part numbers for the shocks vary between B8 Sport and B8 Sprint. Sprint are designed for use with lowering springs so I'm guessing the Sprint version is the one that I want?
If anybody has a list of part numbers that they have used it would be appreciated - I've had bad luck with parts not being quite right lately!
Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi..i know its like 3 years now but i am faced with the same conundrim on 46 000101 0r 46 000 163 for the B12 pro kit on my e30 bmw novrmger 1989 build ...
Some reports suggest that post nov 1988 cars ought to have the 865kg front axle rating eibach springs and hence the 46 000 163 kit.
Others say it is post nov 1989 that the 46 000163 kit .
I called bmw who advises that my car left the factory on 29 nov 1989....how do i tell if my csr is the 865kg or 825 kg front axle car...my car is a 6 cylinder 325i with m technic suspension ..
The 46 000 101 kit are for front axle mass cars of upto 825kg..some sites say pre nov 1989 cars use this kit while others say pre nov 1988...its very confusing ....

I would strongly recommend that, regardless of which spring you go for, open up the dampers and shorten the bump stops by half. I have B8s on my M3 and the ride quality was awful.
I did some research which indicated that the bump stops are too long. When I opened up the dampers, I found that my car had been running almost entirely on it's bump stops and they we battered. I trimmed off the damaged top half and the difference was immense.
My ride height was not excessively low. 10mm lower than stock E30 M3.
