i'm considering changing the car (currently a 2006 A4 Avant) - we're happy to downsize a bit, and I quite like the tech of the i3.

I reckon the basic size of the car and the boot is fine, but at the moment, I have a Thule Bike rack on the roof of the Audi

Looking at the i3 forums I don't think that anyone has solved the problem, the seasucker bike racks seems to be the best solution so far, although seems that you have to take off the front wheel, which is ok for my bikes, but I don't I think that's going to work very well for the kids bikes (mostly as it's normally mrs c who takes the kids out with their bikes, and I don't think she'd appreciate the faff)

Also, the bmw website is a little confusing... they list a bike carrier that is compatible with "all cars" except convertibles- but if you filter by accessories for the i3, there is no bike carrier listed (and this is also consistent with the forums)

wonder if anyone here had solved the problem satisfactorily?

I bumped into a BMW employee at Swinley Forest who was using a sea sucker with the i3. One of the suckers was on the rear window I think , so the bike was half on the roof, half on the rear window.

I'm gutted - we went to look at one the other day - just too small for our only car. Although there are only 4 of us, there is quite frequently a need to cart round an extra child on the school run or to cubs or whatever, the lack of the 3rd seatbelt in the back I think is a deal-breaker.

if we had a need for a 2nd car, it would be no-brainer, but alas we don't frown
