Cat D BMW 3 series what to look out for

A friend is looking to buy a Cat D 3 Series, he knows the damage, it was minor damage on the side and was repaired properly.
As both of us know nothing about this area what should he look out for and does anyone know of a specialist in Essex that could inspect the car to make sure its OK?
