Hi,

My 2013 F11 Air Compressor solenoid has been found to be faulty as the rear suspension airbags are inflating but intermittently not deflating and are throwing up a chassis fault on the dashboard.

Apparently, the solenoid can't be replaced without replacing the Air compressor which is £850 + Vat- Is that the case?

I've also looked at OEM alternatives- The BMW specialist I used for the diagnostics warned against using OEM parts however I've found one from aerosus @ £288 and one from Arnott (Eurocarparts) at £850 including vat (although there is a 30% discount available).

On the Arnotts website, it states "Relay must be replaced"- Is the relay the same as solenoid? I'm worried that if I buy the Arnotts part, I would be back to square one as it's the actual solenoid that the problem.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Relay is a separate part and sits in what would be the spare wheel well with the battery. The battery well often fills with water and the relay is trashed. Replace it and move it to a spot where it won't get wet, when you see it, it will be obvious. R~elay costs no more than £15.

The Solenoid valve block can be bought and replaced separately to the compressor. BMW quoted me £350 for the compressor, ought one from aerosus for a similar price as at the time BMW had no stock or idea when they would have.

Air suspension system is very simple and easily replaced as required.
