I had the brake discs replaced on my 116i F21, Pagid from Car Parts for Less (part of Euro Car Parts) and after about 500 miles they warped, quite badly. I got onto CPfL and they replaced them with the same product and after around 2000 miles they have also warped. I am now a it disillusioned by CPfL and Pagid!

If I buy direct from BMW it's about £210 for a pair (front), can anyone recommend another brand or supplier please?

Thank you

I believe Textar, TRW and Zimmerman are OEM suppliers to BMW

Add ATE to that list...

In the Porsche world Zimmermans used to warp very badly, that many suppliers stopped supplying them. I think these days they all use ATE or Brembo outside of Porsche.

I only fit gen BMW discs to BMWs now. I had too many problems with “oe” discs causing brake judder. (Yes I know the internet says discs don’t warp, it’s pad transfer.....blah blah blah.....you can do special bedding in extra special routine....I prefer to fit stuff once that lasts.)
Which is why I recommend gen BMW discs to others.

Never had an issue with OEM brake components - discs or pads.

Bit of an update here...I am now on my third set of discs, this time genuine BMW and guess what, same thing has happened. My fitter has checked everything else to make sure it's not a worn bush etc but now believes it could be something to do with the pads - also from Euro car parts and also Pagid. He says they are probably inferior quality (not like the Pagid of old) and are leaving a deposit on the disc which is causing the vibration under heavy reasonably heavy braking.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? If I think it will solve the issue I'll go out and buy some genuine BMW pads today!

Many thanks.

Are you sure you havnt got a caliper sticking intermittently? If it is cured when new discs are fitted then I think you should be looking at something causing them to warp.

Maybe measure the runout of the discs and see which one is warping( if it is just one) and then spend some time checking that caliper and hoses

I’ve had exactly the same issue on my E92. I’m on my 3rd set of discs in 8 months.
New discs cure it for a couple of months. Used pagid then tried Brembo.
Exactly the same issue as yours. Cures it for a couple of months.
Interested to see if you cure it.

Elliot, the strange thing is it was absolutely fine until the new discs went on. I don't think it need them either but I put my trust in the garage that fitted them and they seemed to replace everything they could think of.

Rrh, have you tried a different pad yet?

Tbh I'm a bit pissed at spending all this money on it and seriously considering selling the car altogether. It has other silly problems too.

Plenty of us have had this issue, ‘Genuine’ BMW parts and all. Despite the earlier blah, blah, blah post earlier it is very rarely, if ever, discs ‘warping’.

When my F10 did it, after about 20k miles and a spell of being left outside for a few weeks in a February, I just gave it the repeated hard braking treatment. That helped but didn’t clear it fully but then it gradually disappeared.

It’s a very common issue with many BMWs.

I’ve changef the pads. That didn’t help if honest.
I must say it’s ruining an otherwise lovely car.
The hard braking thing didn’t cure it.
I don’t sit with foot on the brake at lights (it’s an auto)
Why it’s cured for 6/8 wks after changing the discs and then it comes back is a complete mystery.
I’m leaning towards the calipers if honest.

If you like but search on ‘Honda brake vibration’ first. The Accords can be particularly bad apparently............... wink
