F10 Tourer - boot won't open (520d, 2011)

Hi

Cleaning the car today and closed the boot and there was a loud bang, first thought was a window had done pop but it wasn't this. I now cant open the boot lid - the switch on the boot makes the noise but won't open. Convenience window works fine.

Have tried a few things:
1. Locking unlocking
2. Remote operation
3. Internal lock opening switch

Nothing helps so assume something has broken, either the switch, release mechanism or maybe something to do with the soft close.

Anyone had this issue of a loud bang and then wont open? if so what was the fix and cost or if fixable by me.
