I had the above carried out today by Simon from Emaps and the best thing i can say is that it no longer really feels like a diesel car at all other than on tickover! In fairness the standard set-up was hardly laggy but now it gets on with things earlier, stays for longer and the bit in the middle is almost petrol-esque in it's linearity, Damn good for £275 i would suggest, which included a report on the health of many parts of the engine like the water temps, fuel filter condition and more. Why anyone would pay £900 for the same thing from the elite mappers is beyond me. This car is probably the best £6,600 i have spent in a long time (56 plate coupe) and the mileage at 74.5k isn't too scary either. Nice addition to the Grindle fleet, all in all. I can recommend Simon, who has furnished the car with 350 bhp and 516 lbs-ft.

Had my 530d done by Simon and kept it for around 5 years with no issue whatsoever. According to Simon all/most parameters were kept within BMWs safe limits anyway.

It was a great all rounder.. Weirdly I didn't notice a huge difference apart from in sport mode (although i remapped it within a few weeks of owning it), but when the new buyer came to test drive it he said it was the nicest to drive and felt the most powerful.

So you`re looking at about just over 700Nm of torque, you need to keep an eye on your gearbox as that's over the limit for what is safe in an early 335d

Simon mentioned that the 516 lbs were all he ever gives this model to protect the gearbox. I never boot the car from a standstill and make sure it's fully warmed up before it gets the pedal worked. But the way the power is produced is just like a petrol almost but with lower numbers on the rev counter.

Totally agree. My E61 535d felt great and ran strong for years after the emaps treatment.

I think the 35D range of cars come in for a lot of stick because they are so good at what they do. Much like the Golf R is ridiculed in some quarters yet is a fabulous car in every way bar maybe the conservative looks. There's a 435D in Manchester running 404 bhp and de-badged it certainly surprises a lot of 'fast cars'.
