Hi, I have just collected my 4 Series following a recent bump which has resulted in a new front bumper and bonnet. Upon inspection at the dealer everything looked to be aligned correctly however now I have it home I can't help feeling that the gap between the bonnet and bumper is larger than it should. Is anyone able to share some similar photos of theirs as a comparison please?

Cheers

I don't have one to be able to tell you but I reckon it would be worth measuring both ends and posting up on here as photos will be a bit hard to judge from.

I had a quick look on mine at lunchtime - the gap should be exactly the same as that between the wing and the bonnet - yours does look larger.

Panel gaps are always massive on BMWs compared to say anything from VAG - no idea why, but it looks rubbish

No panel gaps on VAG cars to keep their emissions out of the cabin smokin

I don't have one, but it looks fine to me in that it looks like every other 3/4 series. If it was like older models and integrated with the grille, you wouldn't notice it as much

And the panel gaps on the car? wink

Joking aside, it looks straight, the gap is consistent and from what you’re showing us, I would say that’s OK. If the gap is ‘big’, based on the way BMW hold on the front panels, I would expect you to see a ‘triangular’ panel gap on the ones where the front panel meets the front wing, ahead of the wheels (where the thin end is at the bottom, away from the front). Can’t judge too well from the picture posted, but the alignment there is the one I’d be checking - if it’s straight and consistent there, (both sides), then you ‘might’ get a good bodyshop to tweak it all a bit tighter, From the photos, I personally wouldn’t bother.

Looks fine to me.

I'd be more worried about them scratching the front number plate so badly
