Air suspension 2008 E70 X5

Hi there,

Rear suspension not working, car is sitting on its haunches not lifting even a single bit. Compressor doesn't sound good.

Any idea where to take the car? Is the a main dealer job, or is independent specialist better?

Can you do away with the air suspension all together?

Been it sorted asap as we're off to the alps in just a few weeks...!

Same issue with my '08 X5 just before Christmas. Main dealer advised there are £500 each + fitting.

I bought after market from here https://aerosus.co.uk/bmw/x5/e70.html and had a mobile mechanic fit them for about £150. It is a DIY'able job if you have the time.

Do not buy from eBay, specifically here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/speedingparts?_trksid=p... I did and the car was sat on it's ass by the next morning. Mechanic came out and both leaked - he looked at it and said the construction was poor.

Thanks. One airbag leaking fixed at the extortionate rate of 650 quid. Still not right as it gives me a error message again, back at the same place now saying it needs the pump and one sensor as well. 950 quid they want for that (not using BMW parts).

Can't say I'm massively tempted to let them have another go, but can't seem find anyone that looks competent.
