BMW 320D I Drive issues

Hello all,

Had my bmw 320d for 16 months now and was bought 2nd hand from a dealer (2013 reg).

Car has full bmw history and since last month i have noticed the idrive screen staying frozen on the bmw startup. It comes and goes now and again but more recently the issue is happening more often than not.

When it does I'm unable to make calls, play music and the parking sensors visual screen obviously is not showing up.

Any ideas what this could be and if it is an expensive fix?

Have you checked with dealer for any software updates for the headunit?

Could well be that it needs a software update. 2013 sounds like it could be the very first of the NBT navigation systems (do you have the larger iDrive controller with the touch sensitive centre?)

As mentioned - Could need a software update. My 530d had the first gen I-drive and that used to require a full power off reset every so often when it refused to do anything. On the 530d you could pull a fuse and do it but I cant remember which. Maybe have a google and see if you have any results from one of the big BMW owners forums.

Thank you all. Will get it booked in with a specialist to have a look and hopefully it is just a software update.

Bought the car from a dealer a fair distance away but will drop them an email too.
