As the title. Stupidly sold E36 15 months ago & regretted it the moment I walked away.

I don’t have the purchasers details although I think the car went to the Stoke on Trent area.

How do I find out where she is?

Reg is R979 GHT.

It's currently SORN ,which may not be a good sign ,meaning it could be broken currently.

Unless the owner sees this or someone spots it out n about ,or parked ,not a lot can be done.

It was immaculate when I sold it even though it had 167k on the clock.

Oh well.

Still want an E36.

I feel the same.

Sold mine nearly 3 years ago and miss it every day. Such a good car.

I missed my 328i until I bought the current 125i Coupé, which seems the closest modern equivalent. Rear end isn't quite so lively, especially with PS4's fitted, but other than that I prefer the 1'er in every way.

Only thing I really miss now is the full OBC. Just isn't the same flicking through some options on the dash.

I wish I could properly rescue my 323i I bought, but it's sadly suffered from the hand of a drifter, it's such a shame bought it for pennies, sold the Rota's off it with the idea of making it a nice 36 coupe, late M tech, but someone has badly rolled the arches so it's not worth doing, it'll be MOT and sell on as a "drifter" shame as with a bit of work, new seats and wheels it would be a lovely 36 coupe

I found it this morning.

It is on SORN because the 19 y/o owner had an accident, the insurance co have written it off & he can no longer afford the insurance.

I am waiting for photos of the damage before I decide whether or not to make him an offer to buy the car.

Had an E36 but the E46 is a much better car. Had three of those. Why not upgrade a little?

I have to say, I am in agreement.

Also E39 over F60.

Tried both "upgrades" and immediately went back.

Another one for preferring the E46 to the E36. The E36 may have the looks in a few respects but the E46s for me have driven nicer and been more inviting/planted than the E36.

I even had quite a sorted E36. In short it was what most people here wanted ; 323i Coupe, Manual shod with new E30 lower arms, PowerFlex Lollipops & RTABs, Koni Dampers and springs all round on new top mounts and trying it on both 15" and 17" wheels and a set of Sports seats. I hate to say it but I preferred my Clio 172 dynamically as well as my W124, albeit that's a different kind of drive.

Px'd a 318is many years ago now for 500 quid, it was on 180k and wanted a total suspension overhaul and interior work but was basically sound mechanically... No regrets but the smarter decision would have been to treat it.

Guessing these must be problem areas. The interior on mine was wearing out more quickly than it should have, and my friend had an identical car on which the suspension was dissolving.

Finally got a photo of the damage to my old E36.

Offside front wing looks as though it will need replacing as will the the indicator lamp & lens.

The front airdam, which houses the front spotlights, has been cracked so this will also need to be replaced.

Apart from that there appears to be no other damage.

So the question is this - do I buy the car & get her repaired & back on the road?

The owner wants £1k for the car which seems a little on the high side bearing in mind she was written off by his insurance co.

Anyone have any idea of the cost of a replacement wing & front spoiler in silver?

Tempted but depends on what it might cost me bearing in mind I have to transport the car down from Stoke on Trent because she is on SORN.

So

Will the front "air dam" repair? If it's just cracked I imagine it will.

As for recovering it. You'll need an MOT on it, won't you. Can't you book it into the MOT station nearest your house and drive it directly there for a test? As far as I am aware you won't need tax and MOT to get it there.

It looks quite a big crack so I would probably replace the whole unit.

Big problem is this. The car is in Stoke & I am in Gloucester.

MOT doesn’t expire until October. Car is SORN because the current owner can’t afford the repairs or the insurance renewal.
