Recently had service on my E92, oil and filters, spark plugs and inspection. Not driven very far since the service, around 100 miles or so, the service miles indicator seems to be stuck at 4100 miles untill next service. Will that mileage indicator drop at 200 mile increments or something? I expected to see it operate like a traditional mileometer.
Thanks for any advise and input.

Surely your indicator should have been reset after the service, or have I misunderstood you question?

It sounds like whoever reset your indicator didn't do it right. What year is the car?

Thanks for replies guys.
The car is a late 2010 .model, the garage did tell me that they had set the MOT date and I assumed that they would have set to service indicator correctly. They also advise that the rear pads were very low, hold the be anything to do with that.?
Guess I will have to take the car back to the garage by sounds of it. It’s a BMW indi.

Just to mention it is not an idrive car.

iDrive or not I believe the car's CBS is still with the following variables

Oil
Brake fluid
Vehicle check ( a more detailed service)
MOT (I think this is called something like statutory vehicle inspection)
Fr brake pads
rear brake pads

Each variable will have a countdown to service, usually a date and mileage or one of those.

if you've had oil done, then this needs to be reset so that you don't get a request for service for the sooner of another 2 years or a set mileage probably somewhere between 15-19k

Similarly if they've spotted and reacted to a need to change spark plugs and inspected car thoroughly it seems like they've done a vehicle check in which case this needs to be reset.

They should have also ticked the corresponding symbols in your service book.

if these things are not being done then you're confusing the car as to when it will need servicing and devaluing resale as you won't have proper s/history.

Thanks Smuler.
Yes they ticked the boxes in my service book, engine oil, oil filter, spark plugs, on ramp inspection, recirculating air filter, micro filter, and backed this up with a paper invoice stating they service done. My car had completed 78112 miles at that point. Since the service I have the mileage showing 78281 miles.
When I start the engine a indicator comes up (outline in red of a car) underneath in separate box is The numerals 4100 which do not change.
Think I will take the car back to garage.

Just got back from garage, they checked it out and spent a few minutes I think resetting it all. The MOT next due was a full year out as well!
All sorted now. Thanks.
