I could do with Some advice about TPMS on my car.

I recently replaced a 2011 640 D with a 2015 to 640d GC. The new car has TPMS.

I have a set of winter tyres/wheels from the old car but the wheels can’t be fitted with TPMS valves. So I bought another set of wheels off eBay which could be fitted with the TPMS valves.

I then asked BMW for a price to supply a set of TPMS valves and put my tyres on the new wheels. I nearly had a heart stack when they came back with £590!!!!!!

That’s £390 for the valves £95 for fitting them and the rest for fitting the tyres.

This seems bonkers. I was thinking £40 each for the valves and £15 per wheel for the tyre fitting.

What advice can anyone offer? Can I easily source reliable non OEM TPMS valves? What’s involved in programming the car? Any pitfalls?

There are third party TPMS valves for a lot less than the "real" ones but I have no experience of 'em (yet).
What I have experience of is winter wheels without TPMS valves and apart from being told it can't read tyre pressures each time one starts, there is no problem - after all, for 60-odd years I've measured/monitored tyre pressures myself and still do so on the older cars.
