Hi Everyone,

I have just taken delivery of my brand new 530e M-Sport hybrid a week ago. The iDrive is missing the following things:

BMW messages (so I can't link the car to the iDrive app on my phone because it needs messages to deliver a code to phone and car)
BMW assistance
Spotify app (yes, when Spotify is open and my phone and plugged into the car with the cable)
Audible app (as above)

There's probably other things missing as well. Has anyone come across this before? I have booked the car in at the dealer to be looked at later in the week and presumably they'll just switch it of and turn it back on again LOL. But perhaps others have had the same problem on their new BMW?

Got a 330e - have you registered it on Connected Drive? What does it say in Connected Drive store- Should say “Booked until date”

Don’t think Spotify is included as an app. It comes with a years sub to Deezer or Napster instead.

Thanks Craig.
I had a 330e right before this 530e. There were none of these problems with the 330e. The menus in iDrive were complete. Spotify and Audible just appeared on the screen in the 330e when you plugged your phone in (with the Spotify app open of course). But that doesn't work with the 530.
I have entered my 530e's chassis number in the Connected Drive phone app, then the app says "please confirm vehicle registration........please enter code............retrieve the code from ConnectedDrive > Messages"...........but there is no messages menu in either the phone menu or Connected Drive menu on the iDrive in my car. It's just missing.

If you go into the Connected Drive secrion, then press the options button on tbe idrive controller, I think there should be an option to 'Update'.

I had a similar issue with disappearing menu items on my M3 and this solved it.

Spotify is still very flakey, though I use the built in Deezer instead.

Thanks janesmith. That got me Messages and a few other bits. No sign of Spotify or Audible though. Do you know where they are?
Also no option to download and pay for Apple CarPlay?

On the CD app on your phone go to Hub and scroll down- I have a list of apps and Audible and Spotify are there.
Re apple car play- It’s not available for my car - think it had to be ordered when built

Thank you Craig and Jane. I’m sorted now. I did the update as Jane said and that got me “Messages” so I can now climatize the car each morning.
And I’m not sure how but both Spotify and audible have just both appeared on iDrive so I’m chuffed.

Like Craig says Apple CarPlay doesn’t seem to be downloadable. I might ring the bmw connected drive people to check on that.

Log into the Connected Drive website and see if you can book it through there. Anything you purchase there should then appear in the car's iDrive.

Thanks Jane. I just checked in the way you said on the CD website and CarPlay isn’t available for my car even though it’s the brand new 5 series. But I guess that’s 235 quid saved. Mind you, the functionality of Spotify is very good on iDrive on this new car so I’m ok without CarPlay I reckon. I’m not sure how much extra CarPlay would actually have given me.

Quick question which is related. With Deezer it uses the car sim and data. Does spotify do the same thing as with my 430d it used the phone data and sim?

Spotify will use your phone data, unless you use your in-car 4g as a hot-spot, then connect to it wirh your phone using wifi.

Thanks but car doesn’t have a 4g hotspot - just seems odd that Spotify can’t use car sim but Deezer/Napster can - guess it’s just the deal BMW have done
