M135i auto. More MPGs....
Discussion
I'm getting 25 MPG but then I was getting that from my old E90 325i which had a lot less power. I consider it getting an extra 100BHP + for "free". I'm not sure if you can get a map to improve on that. My biggest bug bear is the small petrol tank. I'm getting the same MPG as I was previously but I'm at the petrol station a lot more making me think I'm worse off.
These will already be mapped for maximum efficiency. Within reason the leaner you can go the more power you get but also lower emissions.
Your driving style will have way more effect than any tweek you can make. If you already drive as efficiently as you want too / can then tyres rated highly for fuel efficiency might be worth a look when they need replacing.

Agreed, change the driving style and apply hypermiling techniques and you'll save fuel. But really, it's the wrong car for that! geeeman said:
Dont think its the wrong car
There are daily drivers a hell of alot worse on fuel
The nice thing is you can acheive quite good mpg with the ecopro etc, but at least theres fun option when you want it
My original query was just if remap helps at all with efficiency
Whenever I've had remaps done to NA cars it's not really made a difference, but drivability has much improved. Some cars can get better MPG with a remap but that is generally because other parts of the car were restricting it. Take the Focus 2.5 ST : The induction system is restrictive as is the exhaust. Remapping that but also spending a small fortune on the other necessary bits like an inlet manifold, injectors, intercooler etc. etc. can bring a small benefit in MPG but also with 80 more BHP. Such cases now however are rare IME.There are daily drivers a hell of alot worse on fuel

The MPG and the power of the M135 are one thing that I like about them. It was also the first time bar my Stag where I seriously considered getting an auto for a daily car. Before then it was manual or nothing for me. Or to put up with an auto.
The Stag was different as the manuals and clutch mechanisms on those are tough and so-so, whereas the ZF 4 speed Auto with a half decent shifter really suited the nature of the car, especially with the roof down.
