e65 front passenger foot well wet

I would surely check the drain pipes fist - A friend of mine had the same issue- the drains are conveniently hidden behind the wheel arch lining - but it is not difficult to remove it. Once at it cut the silly flap open with a stanley knife...

I recall the previous owner extolling how great these were. :roll eyes:
Did you sort the running issue?
Yeah, it's not the smoothest start I've ever had with a new car. Leaking gaskets just fixed only to find a hairline crack in the sump too. Could do with some good fortune.I recall the previous owner extolling how great these were. :roll eyes:

Running issue is valvetronic related. I adjusted the minimum valve lift from 0.1mm to 0.8mm and the idle improved a lot although the misfire on a cold start still appears now and again. It disappears just as quickly though so not worth worrying about I don't think.

Windscreen replaced?
About 3 years ago I think.I suppose a bigger concern would be, are there any modules or other important electrics that could get knackered there or not?

Sounds about right then. Poorly fitted, and paint removed during removal and installation. Metal exposed to corrosion. Corrosion got so bad that it’s bubbled up and broken the seal.
I wouldn't expect it to be the first port of call.Specialist I was just at says to check the drains for the sunroof and under the microfilter housings

There shouldn't be any - counting on German logic (present historically - there was nothing in my E34). You would be surprised how much water the spongy insulation can absorb. Maybe try and lift the carpet and compress (by hand - hard work) to get the bulk of the water out first - mopping up the puddle below, microfibre cloth to begin with and ultimately lots of paper kitchen towels placed below. Having done all that I would leave the insulation & the carpet propped up in air so that it dries faster. Ugly but effective - as per laws of gravity, the wettest part is the bottom. Full heating on at all times - aimed at footwell - helped by hopefully soon warmer/drier weather and patience - it should dry out fully.Having own (powered) garage does help speed things up.

Not sure if that's a dig at me or not. The ability to predict the future would be nice.I recall the previous owner extolling how great these were. :roll eyes:

PB this will definitely be the sunroof drains. I had them cleared twice in my ownership (first time around) and I know Ross had them done too. If you've not already done so, worth checking they're clear with a long cable tie at the sunroof itself.
Left work to meet a puddle on the driver seat. Headlining down the A pillar and above the seat was wet. Makes it easy to determine where it must be blocked at least...
It's going into the garage next week anyway so will get them to check sunroof and microfilter drains.

Just spotted this thead....
I'll assume it's a dig at me then. You said "previous owner", if it's dig at me, I will also assume you mean "previous, previous, previous owner" since 2 others have had it since me?
Either way, hope the problem gets sorted quickly and cheaply.

I just thought it was odd as it sounded like you were kind of saying "the guy who sold it to you was saying it's amazing and faultless" when in fact it had swapped hands twice more before going to the current owner
