Following a couple of weeks of the central locking playing up and the electric seats randomly dancing around, I received the dreaded dashboard warning last weekend to stop driving the car as it had suffered a major electrical failure. A browse of the internet suggested a leak of the panoramic sunroof into the boot and, low and behold, a strip down of the boot area unearthed the battery and spare wheel well were submerged under 2 inches of water. I took the battery out and went to work with a hair dryer on the interior trim around the fuses and electrical modules in the spare wheel well.

A charge of the battery and a couple of further days drying out I have put everything back together and success, no warning on the dash, central locking working and the seats moved back into the correct position and stayed put! All was well until the following day when the radio died on me. The screen still displays and I can change channels, but no sound coming out. At the same time a message flashed up that the SOS call button has failed and I notice that the Bluetooth has failed. The following day it is all up and working again....until the journey back home from work! I assume this is down to one of the modules in the spare wheel well slowly failing due to water damage? Does anyone have any guidance how I might identify the problem and go about rectifying?

Oh, and the automatic boot open/close has stopped working. Is this because I forced it open and closed whilst I had the battery out? Have I broken it or is this something that needs resetting/recalibrating?

Help.....Tim!

Did you not use the release button in the drivers footwell? The automatic release normally stops by the wires breaking on the boot loom under the right hand hinge.
