Dealer Warranty Expiry
Discussion
Does anyone know what the procedure is when the dealer warranty approaches expiry?
The dealer I use for servicing says the warranty is outsourced and I’ll be contacted for renewal but I’m expecting an inspection at that stage to carry the warranty forward.
Servicing dealer a little vague and not gaining my long term trust for a number of reasons so don’t want to find myself out in the cold through their lack of knowledge.
Should I feel grateful btw for taking my car and handing over £500 for them to have a quick look round and reset some service indicators every 6 months? That’s pretty much how I’ve been made to feel the past couple of years by my current servicing partner, like they are doing me a favour by looking after my car.
I do try and drink as much coffee / eat as many biscuits while I’m there but I’m starting to think I cover the cost of their Christmas party every year.
(It’s been one of those days).

What sort of "dealer warranty" is It??
If the car came with the remainder of the new car BMW warranty, then BMW will be in contact with you to offer you extended warranty.
Likewise, if the car was purchased as an Authorised Used Car from BMW, then they will contact you so tgey can relieve you of more ££££££.
If it is a warranty from a non franchised dealer, it may not be worth the paper it's written on.
If you are in the dealers every 6 months, you must be doing a huge mileage, (40k per year??) and you'll find that not many warranties will cover much over 60000 miles.
I wouldn't expect any pre warranty inspection

Thanks!
BMW Used approved, around 30K per year, car will be at 90K at renewal.
Some servicing, some small niggles, keen based on prices observed to ensure a smooth transition to the paid warranty from same source as the approved BMW one.
You are going to be very shocked at the price - it's very expensive beyond 60k miles and especially so if its that 7 Series in your profile.BMW Used approved, around 30K per year, car will be at 90K at renewal.

Any good indies in Leeds area?
Cramag (Yeadon) and German Autocare (Pudsey) spring to mind. Can't vouch for Cramag as I've no experience of them but the business owner is a member on here and they seem to have a good rep. The OH uses German Autocare for her 120d and they're a decent bunch.Gassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
