Hi All,

I have recently leased a 530e through gateway2lease. It’s gone through the quote, paperwork, signing etc and is now with the franchisee.

I have read lots of threads about them stopping production of these, but this hasn’t been mentioned to me by the leasing company. The other thing that I’ve heard is that the delivery will likely be July.

Now, I’m having a little buyers remorse here. I don’t particularly like new cars, but my business partner wants a company car, and it’s more benefitial for me to do that than the cash (especially with the BIK rate). Ive been rocking around in a Z4M and an old L322 Range Rover over the past few years..

I’d they tell me they can’t do it, it wouldn’t be the worst news, but having read the threads on here it seems that there is no chance i’ll get one?

Inside knowledge welcome! First world problems eh...

Hi, the 530e is not going out of production.

Its a great car but as with all PHEV’s you need to charge it daily or else its essentially a 2.0 litre petrol car. Perfectly capable of excellent MPG but its all about the right car/powertrain etc for the job.

Excellent from a BIK perspective if it was a company car.

He possibly thinks he has laugh

I only found out this week that the 330e is a 2 litre. Strange naming these days at BMW.

We had one on test before Christmas - it was turning in MPG similar to the comparator 520d even without plugging in, as nobody could ever be bothered!

I thought the cars were numbered after their potential output for a na so for instance the M135i is a 3.0l but with the assistance of the turbo is equivalent to a 3.5l na engine.

That's what I understood too - so when the battery is discharged it's a 320. laugh

I'll stick to my N/A straight 6 petrols for now!

Dont think it works like that

My 325d is a 3l with a turbo. Its just less powerful than the 330d

Naming is to indicate the model positioning in the range and used the be an indicator or relative power, so a 325d sits between the 320d and the 330d with her relative equivalent of a 2.5 litre engine.

For some reason puts get their knickers in a twist about this for some reason. I dread to think what they make of the Mercedes naming strategy!

The 530i/e has a 2.0 turbo, there hasn't been a 3.0 naturally aspirated engine sine the n53 stopped about 5 years ago.
