What oils are you guys using for this engine?

I've just been charged £114 (inc VAT) for 7 litres of Valvoline Synpower (£16.28 a litre) by my garage. Seems an awful lot!

Seems expensive to be fair. It is the same or seems as I use in my 330i

So £59 for 7L or roughly £7.60 per litre

Amazon shows

Sorry I did not check the auto places most garages use for parts.

So £74.91 but was the filter included in the price? and fitting / old oil disposal?

I have used Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil in my 650 and previous E38 740. It is BMW approved.
740 had over 200k miles when I sold it. It never used a drop of oil.
My 650 is on 170k miles and does not use any oil between services. I buy it in 4 x 5 litre containers to get the free postage and last time I paid £118 from OPIE oils. My specialist charges ~10 - 15 minutes labour for an oil change (normally other stuff being done at the same time) and is fine with me providing the oil.
Oil: £30, Labour £15 + filter £10 = £55

Oil filter was £27.49 not including VAT and and 'environmental' charge of £9 ex VAT which I assume is for the oil disposal....

I use shell helix 5w40 which is usually low £20 range for 5 litres from carparts4less.

An 8 litre change with some for topping up is £40ish.
