My 340i is going in for its first service tomorrow at 15,500 miles. I believe it’s just oil and filters and I’ve been quoted £320.

I’ve been given the option of buying a 3 year / 36,000 mile service pack for £399 which covers oil change, filters and spark plugs, the car vehicle was registered Sept 2016, so at Sept 2019 I expect my mileage to be 33-34,000 at current usage.

I’m not au-fait with the 340i service schedule, I guess I’ll likely be due another oil and filter change by Sept 2019, would anything else likely need doing at that time?

TL:DR - is the service pack worth buying?

Brake fluid should be due, in that timescale, check iDrive. I'd also say you'll get the second oil service.

check iDrive menu, I don't have a 340i but at that sort of miles (just over 30k) I'll need a "vehicle check" service which must be commensurate to an oil service in cost?

So if that's correct, it's 2 oil (with filters), 1 brake fluid and a vehicle check that could be covered.

As another example, I bought one on my X1, new car 2017. I'm doing 21k miles p/a.

Already had the oil and filters, will have another oil and filters and a vehicle check so reckon my £300 is worth it.

I'll have done 36k before the brake fluid is due so I won't get that.

Thanks, I think it's probably worth it for the two oil / filter services I'll get out of it. I'm having trouble figuring out when spark plugs need changing, I'm used to having to do 10 at a time with the usual M tax applied so if they are likely to be changed before 36k it seems a no-brainer to buy the pack for £400.

With my 2009 335i, I seem to remember they were changed during the "vehicle check" I appreciate there are 8 years difference between this and my X1 , but there are similarities in iDrive menu. That's why I am thinking service pack, for me, is a bargain as it's 2 x oil and this vehicle check.

My other car's a E46 M3 so I'm used to bigger bills!!

The family cars is a 340i Touring, that service back will save you good money. Ours is one 23k and going in for it's 2nd service at some point in the not too distant future. At 32k+ you'll be looking at 2 more services.

Not in the service pack I've just bought, but for some reason it is if the car is a 7 series.

Don't forget the air filter and the pollen (cabin) filters. They should also be in the service pack.
