They may be a silly question, but....

I have winter wheels for Mrs K’s current (F25 I think) X3. I’ve order a new one (the G something) and I’m wondering if the winter wheels will fit. Obviously I can try them, but if they physically fit, is that it? Is there anything else to check? I’ve know you can mess up the 4wd with the wrong wheels. I’ll obviously ask the dealer but they may not know.

Many thanks any for any thoughts.

As long as the PCD of tge mounting holes is the same, the offset and rim width are similar and the rolling circumference of the tyres is the same they should be OK.

BMW have been making PCD changes on recent models so maybe that will rule it out.

If you are comparing a F25 to G01 (ie new X3), they won’t fit.

The new PItch Centre Diameter is 5/112 and the F25 is 5/120.

Sorry!

They’ve done the same with the G30.

Most BMW for some years have been 5 x 120. Now they’re changing to 112.

It would be interesting to know why.

Btw, although I had an OE set of winters with the F10 I had over the last few years I went aftermarket for a set for my new XF.

The BMW set cost me about £1100 4 years ago but Jaguar wanted £1900/£2200 for 17”/18”. I got a set of Borbet wheels with tyres and OE TPMS valves from MrWinterwheels for £1k.

F30 is still 5x120.

I stand to be corrected but isn’t that a 6 year old designation due to be replaced by G20?

Sorry, me being a tit, I read it as you saying F30 not G30.

Yeah, you're right, all the new wheels on G series, and I3 and i8, are now on 5x112 with smaller bolts.

This is done to help reduce wheel weight on the axles.
