Hi all, posibly a silly question but ts something ive been looking into recently. Myself and a friend have recently acquired a 1996 328i, and after poking around a little I came across something. The vehicle we own is registration N78 xxx, and both N74 and N76 with the same suffix were also BMW's of some kind, looks like another 3 series in another clour and either a 535i or 735i. Is this likely to just be coincidence? I wondered if it might be possible that it could be part of some group of BMW motorshow / press cars?

Just a recent musing, grateful for thoughts!

Probably all registered at the same dealer on the same day. Not overly uncommon.

If the last two letters are from Berkshire (AN, RX, CF etc) then it will have been a BMW company car at head office. I have one. they used to register a few hundred cars a years and after 3 months, auction them off to main dealers for AUC stock.

Back in 1988 I owned a 1980 E12 BMW 520 with the registration number: GOB 264W

Whilst driving to work one morning, I pulled up at traffic lights behind a green BMW E21 320, and was amazed to see that its registration number was GOB 265W! eek

Now 8 years after the cars were first registered, and @ 30 miles away from the original dealership that sold them, what were the chances of these two cars being in the same place, at the same time, one behind the other? confused
