No 540d?

Any reason why UK arent getting the 540d? Reports at the launch of the G30 suggested it was coming second half of last year. Is it now not coming due to the anti-diesel pop culture???

It’s a nightmare. The UK Government issue anti-diesel rhetoric and with Brexit on top BMW hold back on introducing the 540d in the UK. Heartbreaking 😢😢

Simple answer? - Because the already small market for RHD 540D's just got a whole lot smaller with the downturn in diesel sales, so it's simply not worth BMW making them.

You can, indeed, buy the 540d in the UK but it comes dressed up as an ALPINA D5s. Whereas the LHD markets get the triple turbo units found in previous generations of the X5/6 M50d the RHD variant utilises the twin turbo set up from countless outgoing models in the BMW range with EXACTLY the same performance figures.
