Hi just had aa round, car won’t start coming up with code AOB3 starter motor terminal 50 error,
suspect it is the cas (car access system) faulty. New one has to be re- oded to vehicle.
Anyone have an idea of price and a good bmw specialist to get it done at.
East Yorkshire Area.
Cheers Gazph.

It may not be the cas ecu faulty. May be a worth a little diagnosis first to confirm. Have a look at my N52 starter post for some tips.

If the comfort access unit has failed, just disconnect it and the car will start and revert to normal locking. On the E90 3 Series it's in the boot, probably the same on the 1 Series. What year is it?

That’s just the general fault code it comes up with if the cas records the engine crank signal but doesn’t turn over. It’s usually a corroded engine earth strap or a faulty starter motor.

You can bypass the engine earth with a jump lead from a good body ground onto a metal part of the engine
