I have a 2007 320D that I've had in my garage for 6 months since I got a company car. I had the battery disconnected and gave it a top up with an external charger every month. Since I'm moving house and will lose the garage, I need to get it MOT'd and sold. I reconnected the battery and the car started first time but warning messages popped up for every light (picture attached) and the indicators were flashing rapidly. However, none of the lights are actually blown, they all work.

Today, I took it to a garage for an MOT and the indicators returned to normal flashing rate on the way there but I still get a warning message for every light. The garage told me the safety recall applies to my car and I should take it to a dealer, could the two items be related or do I have electrical gremlins from having the car in storage?

Get the codes read and cleared, then see if they come back. You can do this with the Torque app in the play store and a bluetooth ODB code reader from Amazon

As of today I have essentially the same problem. The indicators flash at double speed, the instrument cluster reports the following errors:
CC-ID 122 Indicator Front Right Failure
CC-ID 125 Indicator Rear Right Failure
CC-ID 129 Rear Fog Light Failure

... and yet, all of the lights are actually working and if you put the hazard lights on then they flash at the correct timing. This is not a bulb issue. I have spent a bit of time with Google this afternoon and it sounds suspiciously like it is a problem with the light controller in the footwell. Apparently BMW will fleece for hundreds and always just replace the controller with a new one but according to the mostly US forums you can actually fix it in software with a diagnostic computer IF the person using it actually knows what they are doing.

I have a bluetooth OBD interface (KiWi 3) but none of the apps currently on my phone (iOS) appear to have the kind of functionality that will clear these (I can clear the check engine and that kind of thing, but not the light controller).

Any PHers au-fait with this kind of thing who can provide some more detailed guidance, as if there isn't a straightforward solution then it looks like I have a choice of an excessive bill or a bit of a research project to acquire and learn to use the diagnostic system readboxedinirked

ETA - mine is an 08 E93 320i

Find someone with INPA. If there is a coding issue or module issue it may pinpoint it better.

Google FRM reset/repair. Lots of people can fix these modules now.

Carly for BMW can code the FRM module. You'll need a proper cable, or a Carly branded bluetooth dongle. I used it to disable bulb checks after I changed my rear lights to the facelift LED lights.

Interesting as I hadn't seen anywhere else that it could actually do the short circuit counter reset? Did you manage to reset the failure with the indicator lights flashing at double speed and the console indicating that bulbs didn't work when they visibly did?

To be honest that option does rather end up a last resort though - £55 per year subscription for the app plus an extra £62 on top of that for their iOS compatible widget is pretty opulent unless you expect to make a lot of use of it when ~£20 gets you a cable that will supposedly do the same job with the software on a PC... That is the level where I would want a guarantee that it would work before shelling out I think.

I don’t think Carly can do what you want it to.
