Just wondering what parts would be needed for a 2.8 engine conversion to fit in 316 compact. New to the BMW community.

I completed a conversion from 316ti to 3.0 m54b30.

Needed

Engine
Gearbox
Prop shaft
Wiring loom
Ecu
Ews

I also swapped front brakes and rear brakes (need to swap complete rear arms to fit larger brakes)

Fitted new radiator, new water pump and replaced some rad hoses whilst the engine was being put in for good measure.

I have since swapped the standard diff to a 3.38FD Kaaz LSD along with other upgrades such as HSD monopros and semi stripped out for track use.

It depends on the age of the e46 if it’s a early car or a later one

Just get a 325ti. Same power as 328i and makes 330 conversion much easier and cheaper. Unless you get a mint 316 with busted engine for nothing and doner 328/330 cheap. Check insurance too as modded cars cost more.
