Bmw e90 330i n52
Discussion
Hi, ive had a e90 330i now since November, tbf it has impressed me alot more than i imagined it too. Its grey with xenons, sat nav and its an auto. Car came with mich ps4's on, just wandering if any other owners on here reccomend any mod's, as in maybe remap/exhaust/intake etc. Also any other info about how other owners have found there 330is to own? Cheers
I had my E90 330i Auto for 4 years and it was a lovely cruiser and it had a lovely smooth free revving engine. I'd have preferred a manual because I thought the Auto didn't really suit the engines characteristics though.
I also would have liked more vocality from the exhaust/engine because I found it really muted(but that suits its cruising capability though). Quite a few do swap the exhaust from what I've read, and a filter would give it a tiny bit more noise too.
I thought it was a great all round faultless car. Enjoy it.

I've only had my 06 plate E91 325i SE since February but have been very pleased with it as a daily driver. Being an early one it's also got the N52 engine, and is a manual.
But I knew what to expect with the engine as I've had Z4 Coupes with the 3.0 litre N52 for 4 years now!
Apart from the fact that in the E91 I can hardly hear it enough to know it is a straight 6!
But it is very refined, and still quick enough for some fun so long as you don't mind revving it a bit! (as in a lot)
Based on what I have read about N52 - engined Z4s I don't think there is much to be gained with mapping. Maybe some noise from an induction kit, Sports exhaust or back-box delete if you feel really brave!

I've had my 07 330i auto M-Sport for nearly 5 years now - it's the longest I've had a car! It's been a fantastic daily but it's time to move on to something else, although I'm struggling to decide what to buy next. It's been pretty much trouble free in the 30k I've covered apart from the electrical issue and a DSC module. I'll be extremely sad to see it go.
Good modifications vary depending on what you want and what you already have. If you have idrive, a great but vastly expensive modification would be to upgrade to the newer version. If yours doesn't already have one, the split armrest is also a great but more simple update.
Handling mods would include swapping parts with an M3, such as lower control arms, or changing the suspension to something like a full or partial Birds B3 kit (bilstein shocks /eibach spring / upgraded anti roll bars and an LSD), but that can get really pricy too. Yours already had the run flats ditched which is a bonus.
Performance wise will be more limited, even will a 'full bolt on' setup and a remap on top you are probably not going to be more than 15-20hp up (complete guess) but driveability might improve along with sound.

I've had my E90 330i Manual for a touch over 3 years.
Changed the run flats out to non run flats which did make a change and stopped it tramlining quite so much and also made it slightly less crashy.
Other than that have carried out the golf tee mod for the exhaust valve so both pipes remain open - did it make a difference, not to sure sometime I think yes and other times I think no but no harm.
I looked at modding and was told a remap will improve the drivability and give it another 15/20bhp but to be honest its my daily commute car and I tend to just sit in the slow lane on my commute since the standard of driving is so poor today that I cant be bothered to risk it.

Cheers all for the feedback
I have also c/o the golf tee mod and tbf im the same i cant make out if it has made a difference. Think from the feed back im going to keep it as it is for the time being and just keep up with maintenance etc.
Well if you like an N/A straight 6 petrol you don't have too many options really! I have also c/o the golf tee mod and tbf im the same i cant make out if it has made a difference. Think from the feed back im going to keep it as it is for the time being and just keep up with maintenance etc.
Nice cars, I certainly enjoyed my one.
If you fit a drop in air filter, like a BMC one, you get a smidge more of that lovely induction noise. Not a big difference, but nice all the same.
I really didn't like the brake fade compensation cutting in when driving hard with the stock pads. A set of Ferodo DS2500 (or probably any other performance pad), worked great and solved that problem.
Junking the run flats stopped the frequent punctures I was getting, plus improved the ride / traction and tyre noise too.
