BMW 650 - Oil Leak
Discussion
Brought my 2006 650 less than a couple of months ago.
It had a new Gearbox gasket and cover fitted before I purchased.
I have driven everyday with no problems. Then went on holiday and parked it up for just over a week. Came home to a puddle of oil! Thought it must have been gearbox oil, but after putting on ramps and removing the underside trays the only signs of oil I could find was the underside of the compressor which was wet as was the steering rack just behind the compressor. Above this area is the oil filler cap.
I removed the top engine covers and felt around rocker cover gasket. It was dirty, but no obvious signs of leaks.
I have cleaned everything up and dried off with a rag and will keep an eye.
There is a very slim chance it could be spilt oil from recent oil change that was done before I purchased. If so the oil had been sitting on top of the underside trays or its possibly my rocker cover gasket, though if so, it only appears to be leaking in one location.
Any other tips or advice would be welcomed. Thanks,
